John 17 💎 17 |
The sacred anthem slowly rang Across the fields of praise, When earth’s first Sabbath made complete All creatures and all days. Walking with God, there, Woman and man together share The blessed Sabbath mood; And in that green and golden world Know all God’s works are good. But now in our diminished lives We sing a blemished song; The earth is worn and disarrayed And all our work goes wrong. Still in our worship, Joining in praise and fellowship, By Sabbath radiance blessed, We put our doubt and fear away And rest within God’s rest. And arching over time and space The Lord of Sabbaths wills Renewal for the weary earth And healing for our ills. Hearts will rejoice then; There will be no more weeping, when We know and shall be known. With hosts of the redeemed we’ll sing Around God’s shining throne. ✒ begins with the first Sabbath, reflects on our present experience, and looks forward to the renewed worship, with the Creator of the Sabbath, in a restored world. | Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. |
Hymn 395 🤎 Psalm 27:4-8
As birds unto the genial homeland fly, The winter’s cold and low’ring skies to flee, So seeks my soul Thy gracious presence here And finds, O God, its rest and peace in Thee. Here at Thy shrine we leave all vexing care, Forget the disappointment, grief and tear, And on the wings of hopeful song and prayer We rise, and rising feel Thy Spirit here. Bless all who spend this night in pain and woe, The burdened heart, the fainting, and distressed, Thy comfort send to darkened homes bereaved, Thy saving help to those by want oppressed. Come, Sabbath joy, each trusting heart now fill, And blissful peace within our homes abide, May thankful praise each grateful heart now thrill, And to God’s loving care their lives confide. ✒ a special hymn of the feeling of love and reverence for the holy hours of the Sabbath; especially touching is the third stanza, which asks God's blessing on all who are in pain, or distressed, and those who mourn the loss of a loved one. | One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek. |
O Sweet rest within God's rest 🕊 Sabbath Blessings!
Hymn 306 🤎 Draw Me Nearer
and it told thy love to me;
but I long to rise in the arms of faith
and be closer drawn to thee.
Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord,
by the power of grace divine;
let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
and my will be lost in thine.
O the pure delight of a single hour
that before thy throne I spend,
when I kneel in prayer, and with thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!
Refrain
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
to the cross where thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
to thy precious, bleeding side.
The expression of the countenance is itself
a mirror of the life within.

The Christian can not always be in the position of prayer,
but his thoughts and desires can always be upward.
Our self-confidence would vanish, did we talk less and pray more.

Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise,
think on these things.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child:
but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Thoughts, understood, speak
but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

1 John 3:18 KJV
so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
These things have I spoken unto you,
that my joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full.
This is my commandment,
That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks? Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock.
The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.
And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;
As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;
Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;
Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.
As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.
And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel.
I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord God.
I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.
And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.
Therefore thus saith the Lord God unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the lean cattle. Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad; Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.
And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.
And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.
And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.
And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.
And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.
Thus shall they know that I the Lord their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord God.
And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God.

Verse 9
Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness;
and let thy saints shout for joy.
Verse 12
If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony
that I shall teach them,
their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.
Verse 16
I will also clothe her priests with salvation:
and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
Verse 18
His enemies will I clothe with shame:
but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
#righteousness*IS*salvation
Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
feed me with food convenient for me:
Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD?
or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye,
and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity:
for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
For riches are not for ever:
and doth the crown endure to every generation?
The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.
When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.
his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.
for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul:
when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward,
and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.
Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.
Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not?
for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
For the LORD will plead their cause,
and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
